Local SEO

Check the signals that tell search engines where you are

A local business page is judged on a different set of signals from an article. Search engines need to work out who you are, where you are, when you are open and how to reach you — and they need it in a form a machine can parse, not just a phone number in an image in the footer.

The 10 checks behind this

Each one is a check that runs, described by the engine itself. If a check changes, this page changes with it.

  • LocalBusiness structured data

    localbusiness_schema

Presence of JSON-LD or microdata LocalBusiness schema (or subtype like Restaurant, Store). Organization schema alone is a warn.

  • Business name (NAP)

    nap_name

Business name visible in title or header AND in schema name property. Schema only is a warn.

  • Business address (NAP)

    nap_address

Postal address in schema address property AND visible on page. One or the other is a warn.

  • Business phone (NAP)

    nap_phone

Phone in schema telephone property AND as a clickable tel: link. One or the other is a warn.

  • Location in page title

    location_in_title

Optional location parameter (city/region) appears in the title tag. Generic geo words are a warn. Not measurable if location omitted.

  • Location in H1

    location_in_h1

Optional location parameter appears in the H1 heading. Lower headings only is a warn. Not measurable if location omitted.

  • Geographic coordinates

    geo_coordinates

Schema geo property with valid latitude and longitude. Malformed coordinates are a warn.

  • Opening hours

    opening_hours

openingHours or openingHoursSpecification in schema. Hours in visible text only is a warn.

  • Maps/directions link

    maps_link

Link to Google Maps or other mapping service, or embedded map. Address without map link is a warn.

  • Social profiles (sameAs)

    same_as_profiles

sameAs property or visible links to social/review platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, etc.). Weak social only is a warn.

How this works in practice

NAP consistency is checked on the page, not across directories

SEOAST reads the name, address and phone number your page actually publishes and checks they are present and machine-readable. It does not crawl directories to compare listings — that is a different product with a different data source, and this report will not pretend otherwise.

Schema is scored on what it declares, not on what it omits

A page is not penalised for lacking a schema type it has no business declaring. What is scored is whether what you did declare parses, carries the properties its type requires, and matches what a reader can see on the page.

What this will not do

Page-level signals only. No directory crawl, no review data, no Google Business Profile access.

Questions

Does this check my Google Business Profile?

No. This audits the page you give it. Google Business Profile, review monitoring and directory citations are separate systems with separate data sources.

How is this different from the on-page audit?

It runs a different set of checks aimed at local signals. Most local businesses want both: the on-page audit for whether the page can rank at all, this one for whether it reads as a business in a place.

  • Technical SEO audit

Run a technical SEO audit on any URL. SEOAST checks HTTP status, redirects, HTTPS, robots.txt, the robots meta tag, X-Robots-Tag, canonicals and your XML sitemap, then ranks what to fix first.

  • AI-search readiness audit

Check whether your page can be crawled, parsed and understood without JavaScript. SEOAST measures the foundational signals — crawl access, server-rendered content, structured data, heading structure and llms.txt — that machine readers depend on.
